Linea,
roasted on Potrero Hill.

One of the best small coffee shops in Potrero Hill, roasting its own beans, with a very strong cappuccino game and bags worth carrying home for the AeroPress.

Linea is one of the best small coffee shops in Potrero Hill, and they roast their own beans. Their flavor profiles are amazing, and whenever I’m visiting SF I love picking up some freshly roasted coffee from them for my AeroPress.

The quality of the beans and their cappuccino game are very strong. You can see the care they put into their beans.

The roasting happens right here at 1125 Mariposa Street. When Linea announced its Potrero Hill expansion in 2019, it described the building as a 5,000-square-foot roasting space most recently operated by Intelligentsia, already fitted with a vintage German Probat roaster, which let Linea move its roasting from Oakland into San Francisco. Founder Andrew Barnett had opened Linea’s original café on 18th Street in the Mission in 2013. The pandemic paused his bigger plans for Mariposa, and the coffee bar here opened as a to-go café in August 2020.

The shelves lean into how the beans are grown. According to Linea’s About page, in 2023 the company became a Certified B Corporation and moved its entire coffee lineup to 100% organic.

Oh, it’s definitely expensive. But that’s what you get when you go to a specialty coffee shop in San Francisco. Expect a decent wait during the morning rush hour, too. Everyone needs their morning coffee.

Top notch. Worth it for you to swing by.
